How to build a DIY cat tree like Puff and Pooh's

If your cats are anything like Puff and Pooh (and I'll bet they are), they just can't keep their claws off the upholstered furniture, drapes, or anything that provides a place to climb. Let's face it, cats love to climb, scratch, jump and perch up high. Nothing addresses these feline quirks like providing a BIG cat tree.

We searched high and low for the ideal cat tree, but couldn't find what we were looking for. What is offered commercially can get very pricey, and we couldn't find exactly what we had in mind. So, we made notes and improved upon what we saw. In designing our perch, we wanted to encourage our cats to play HERE and give the furniture a much needed respite.

With that purpose in mind, we opted for a hollow tree-like cat tree that permitted our cats to scale to three levels, and climb inside or outside of the tree. The two off-set, parallel trays afford a great place to curl up and snooze, while the top perch provides a grand view of the entire room.
